Please join us at the 2017 Idaho Counselors Association conference on January 28th at 8:00 a.m. for Sustaining Compassion in Clinical Practice through Mindfulness, presented by the IMHCA Distinguished Presenter, Dr. Tony Seikel.

Counselors clearly recognize the importance of compassion in clinical practice, but also acknowledge the dangers of "compassion fatigue." A great deal of research has been conducted on mindfulness within the past decade, revealing marked changes in physiology, as well as in emotion regulation and stress management. Recent studies have also examined compassion practice on physiology, and the neural substrate that changes related to this practice is becoming clearer. This presentation will discuss meditation practices designed to increase empathy, compassion and loving kindness, as well as give evidence to the brain changes these practices induce in the practitioner.
